Co-design health spaces

You are planning a new space where health services will be delivered. There is collective expertise across the system around which services should go into the building and ways it could work.

You need a structured process to engage with the public, patients, clinicians and staff to ensure the building is designed around the things that matter most to the people who will use it.

This work typically takes place during strategic definition of a new project and feeds into preparation and briefing, RIBA stages 0-1.

Activities

We conduct needs analysis through patient and public engagement, we co-design the service model with patients, clinicians and staff. We ground our work in population health analytics and collaborate with architects.

We identify ways digital can be integrated throughout and can be used to optimise experiences.

Outcomes

  • The work uncovers and prioritises what people need from the space
  • We provide structured evidence to feed into business cases and funding applications
  • We feed into the architectural brief

We’d love to talk

"Working with the superb team at Healthia has been an absolute joy. They delivered a superb alpha phase of our elective care educational project that has helped us devise strategies around the long-term future of educational video content in the NHS.

The team is flexible, reliable and diligent and we appreciated the openness of their approach."

Digital Innovation Manager, NHS Transformation Directorate

"We needed to understand poor return rates for routine outcome measures in children's mental health services (CAMHS), so that we could determine where to invest to improve.

Healthia brought enthusiasm, expertise and a clear methodology to the project. They had a good understanding of the problem space and involved the service delivery team in the planning of the project. Their work left us with an evidence-based plan to improve ROMs effectiveness and reported outcomes. Reported paired outcome measures had even increased by the end of project.

I’d recommend Healthia because recommendations were clear, relevant and achievable. Importantly, not all the proposed solutions were dependent on additional resources or funding."
